A 10 đDay: 5 Steps to Transformation in Your Business
Every day millions of businesses, all around the world, influence people and make a positive impact. Faithfully, consistently and with confident expectation they are invest into the lives of their owners, employees, customers, communities and partners.
This could be your business.
The Opportunity To Change
In this series Iâm diving into transforming our businesses through the reforming of our mind. Iâm so glad you found yourself here!
For many business owners, living from a place of purpose and influence is an anathema. An oxymoron. Things are going haywire all around them and it seems an impossible task to make they changes they know are needed.
Slowly, with a âdeath by a thousand cutsâ, the origin story of their vision fades away. The conviction which was so crystal clear when God first called you bleeds out. Buried under the weight of âGetting the message rightâ or the latest cashflow emergency.
I believe that together with God, we can change this story. He didnât bring you this far to leave you here. This series wonât provide you all the answers, but it does give you a place to start.
If youâre truly serious about making the change, Iâve also created this free course through my company Creative Appnologies. Regardless, Iâd love it if you took some time to give me a âclapâ, subscribe or reach out.
Remember: this is just the beginning.
Our Scripture
Weâve been studying how we can transform our businesses through drawing our identity from God. Our scripture has been drawn from Romans 12:2.
Hereâs what it says:
Romans 12:2 (TPT). Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern Godâs will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.
Step 1: Stop đ
The first step in our transformation is pretty simple. We need to recognise that thereâs some things weâll need to đ doing.
Specifically, scripture calls out âimitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around youâ.
Itâs an interesting turn of phrase. Taken in context, itâs a powerful piece of insight into where God might be leading us. Keep in mind that the book of Romans was written to the Romansâââthe super power of the day. An empire which dominated the parts of the world depicted in the bible (Mediterranean Sea). An empire renowned for is power, brutality and sheer effectiveness.
If you were to read the book of Romans, you would see that the previous 11 chapters deal with the theology of Christianity. In our context, we would say it deals with the âthinking patternsâ or âcognitive understandingâ of what Christianity says. In Romans 12:1â2, we see the writer transition from theological understanding to practical application.
Where does the writer start? By pointing out that practical application begins by recognising that youâve got some things you need to stop.
You and I are no different.
In our previous episodes, we explored some of the things that we know God has said about us.
If we want to move from insight to transformation it will start by us recognising that weâve got some things to đ. And a great place to start that is looking at the ideals and opinions of the culture around you (which might be different from mine).
Step 2: Connect
ââŚbe inwardly transformed by the Holy SpiritâŚâ
I love this part. Who is doing the transformation? Is it us?
Nope.
Itâs Holy Spirit! HS. The member of the triune Godhead who comes alongside. The Helper. The Revealer of Jesus. Heâs amazing!
This means that our responsibility is to connect with Him. Authentically, vulnerably and purposefully. He is the One who will shape, change and mould how we should view things.
Why donât you take a moment now to connect with Him?
Share everything with Him. Share with Him how things are going. Whatâs working, whatâs not. Where you feel awesome and where you feel rubbish.
Nothing weird, nothing spooky. Just you and HS having a yarn â¤ď¸
Step 3: Allow
Words like âthrough a total reformation of how you thinkâ can be challenging to internalise. It seems so big and achievable. Itâs like standing at the bottom of a mountain, looking up and not seeing a path.
If thatâs how youâre feeling right now, I totally understand. Iâve been there.
Hereâs a different way of framing those words though. HS is the One doing the reforming. He is the one who is transforming you, and it is that transformation which is leading to the reformation.
Itâs not something you can do by yourself.
Our responsibility is to allow HS to do His work. To allow these new ways of thinking to flow through into our behaviour and attitudes.
Thatâs it. Allow.
Step 4: Empower
The impact of HSâs transforming connection with us is profound.
Part 1 is that weâre empowered to discern Godâs will. Empowered to understand and identify what it is that God is asking us to do.
What you are doing through your business.
How good would it be to connect our perspective to Godâs perspective for our businesses. To see the areaâs of impact He wants us to have and be confident that this is where He wants to take us.
This is not just possible, but inevitable as we Stop, Connect and Allow HS to do His work in our lives!
Step 5: Live
Part 2 of HSâs transforming power in our lives is our ability to live beautiful lives.
Isnât that a wonderful promise?
To live a beautiful lifeâââa live that will include your business, your family, your community, your city and your nation.
All driven by connecting with HS.
So Letâs Do It
Thatâs it.
Thatâs the end of our series on Business Transformation Starts With Your Mind. With all my heart, I pray that itâs been helpful and has blessed you.
Until next time â¤ď¸
